Second Minor Decoy Operation Finds Three Stores Out of Compliance
The second minor decoy operation conducted by the Medford Police Department and the OLCC in a month found three out of ten stores sold an alcoholic beverage to a minor decoy.
Of the ten stores selected at random, seven either verified the minor decoy’s age with the register age verification, or correctly checked the I.D. and verified the decoy’s age.
Two clerks entered the decoy’s I.D. into the age verification system, and then overrode the denial of sale with an alternate date of birth. One clerk asked for I.D. and then sold the alcoholic beverage after failing to check the age verification calendar.
The operation is to monitor and educate licensees in the legal sale of alcoholic beverages and reduce the access of alcohol to minors.
