Commissioners approve new position for Community Corrections
The Josephine County Commissioners during their Wednesday business session approved the hiring of a Parole and Probation Program Supervisor.
Community Corrections Director Abe Huntley addressed the board and said the position would provide hands on management for the parole and probation team as well as providing additional morale by shouldering some of the departmentís large caseload. Huntley told commissioners he currently oversees the parole and probation team and that Josephine County is the only county in the state without a Parole and Probation Program Supervisor.
Huntley added that the department has needed a supervisor for four or five years but they now have the budget to hire the position.
Commissioners approved the position requisition unanimously.
The commissioners also unanimously approved the purchase of a cargo van for the Building, Operations and Maintenance Department. One of their current vans requires $12,000 in repairs and the new van will keep the fleet active.
