Bacteria kills Sams Valley Elementary teacherís aide; school closed a second day
Sams Valley Elementary in the Central Point School District is closed for a second day today due to a teacherís aide dying Tuesday from a virulent strep throat bacterium.
The disease is common but the district is taking extra precautions to make sure students and staff are safe and the company Servpro has been hired to clean the school with hospital quality sanitizers.
A relative of the deceased aide as well as two other teachers have been reported ill but no students have contracted the disease.
Symptoms of the disease include severe sore throat, fever, swollen tonsils, headache, body aches, rash and nausea. Medical attention should not be sought unless symptoms are present.
