Gold Hill Skate Park Graffiti Target
The Gold Hill Skate Park was the target last week for vandals who painted poorly written words, alien faces and pot leaves on the skating surfaces.
Officials discovered the graffiti last week in the less-than-one-year-old park. Local skaters helped paint over some of the more obnoxious bits late last week.
Gold Hill is largely without a police force and because of the skate park tagging and increased vandalism throughout the city including damaging a flow meter at the city reservoir, is negotiating with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department for code enforcement and an overall increased police presence.
The city’s insurance provider could provide some funds for increased lighting and security cameras in some areas of town. The skate park is not yet slated for any increased security as of yet.
