The Tour

Day 1:   Thursday, October 9, 2008      LAS VEGAS, NV

Upon arrival at Las Vegas airport, a Trafalgar Tour Director will meet the group and assist them to an awaiting motorcoach for a transfer your hotel, located on the famous "Las Vegas Strip". (Specific hotel and location are subject to availability at the time of booking). This evening enjoy a welcome drink.

 

Day  2:  Friday, October 10, 2008   LAS VEGAS, NV - SEDONA, AZ       (B, D)

Sedona, ArizonaLeaving the glamour of Las Vegas behind, travel south and cross the mighty Colorado River into Arizona, following parts of historic Route 66, the nation's very first transcontinental highway. Our afternoon destination is Montezuma Castle National Monument to see the ancient homes of the Sinagua Indians.  After some time to explore these dwellings built into the cliff over 600 years ago we continue on to the magnificent scenery and towering red rocks around Sedona.

 

Day  3:  Saturday, Oct 11, 2008 SEDONA, AZ - GRAND CANYON, NP         (B)

Grand Canyon National ParkThis morning group members will have time to explore the many shops and galleries of Sedona, or perhaps take an optional  4W Drive Jeep tour of the surrounding area to take in yet more incredible vistas.  After lunch on-your-own, continue northward through the dramatic Oak Creek Canyon onto the pine-covered Kaibab Plateau for our first view of the amazing Grand Canyon National Park.  Enjoy the ever changing views of this natural wonder during a guided, evening sunset walk.

 

 

Day 4:   Sunday, October 12, 2008   GRAND CANYON NP - PAGE, AZ              (B, D)

Page, ArizonaThis morning is at leisure to allow group members to admire the canyon's amazing colors in the morning light or perhaps take an optional helicopter ride for a bird's eye view of the Grand Canyon.  Departing the park late in the morning, travel into the vast Navaho Indian Reservation. Our first stop will be at the historic Indian Trading Post at Cameron, giving group members the opportunity to purchase native handicrafts.  Then it's on to Glen Canyon Dam, spanning the Colorado River and backing up its waters to form magnificent Lake Powell. With over 3,000 miles of towering sandstone shoreline, the lakes deep blue waters fill thousands of tiny fingers and hidden covers.   

 

Day 5: Monday, October 13, 2008  PAGE, AZ - ZION CANYON NP - BRYCE CANYON, NP (B)

Zion Canyon National ParkThe incredible beauty of southern Utah comes alive this morning as we drive northward. Our destination is the lush cliff-and-canyon landscape  of Zion Canyon National Park.  Here, board a narrated shuttle to explore the scenic highlights of the park and have some time at leisure. Late in the afternoon continue on to Bryce Canyon National Park where we will stay for two nights.

 

Day 6:  Tuesday, October 14, 2008     BRYCE CANYON NATIONAL PARK        (B, D)

Bryce Canyon National ParkBryce Canyon National Park is an otherworldly collection of pink, orange and red sandstone spires call "hoodoos". Walk along the rim of the amphitheater and marvel at the magnificent formations carved by Mother Nature into a fantastic landscape of fairytale castles, cathedrals and a maze of trails and hideaways.  Upon returning to the hotel, a farewell dinner concludes the day's activities.

 

Day 7:  Wednesday, October 15, 2008 BRYCE CANYON NP  - LAS VEGAS, NV     (B)

Las Vegas, Nevada"Sin City", "Gambleville", "The Entertainment Capital of the World", "Open 24-hours", "The Garden of Neon",  Las Vegas is known as all of these and more.  A city with over 1.5 million people, it didn't even exist at the turn of the century. Las Vegas has traditionally been considered the refuge of adults but since the mid 1990's a shift toward families has been under way.     Returning to the city by early afternoon, the remainder of the day is at leisure for you to explore any one of it's numerous attractions.

 

Day 8:   Thursday, October 16, 2008 LAS VEGAS, NV                   (B)

  • Breakfast at hotel
