Rookie Ely wins Boatnik Hydroplane Race
The Tom Rice Memorial White Water Hydroplane race was a two story event with a rookie winning and 70 percent attrition rate.
17-year-old Houston Ely, in his first race at this level, out pointed the field that was shortened to six finishers out of 23 that initially registered for the race.
The total finishes of the four legs are totaled and the lowest number wins. Ely finished 3rd, 1st, 2nd and 2nd for a total 8 points in a close race with Drew Dechenne.
Dechenne 4th, 3rd, 1st and 1st for a total of 9 and tookd 2nd place in spite of crossing the final finish line first.
