Basketball Double Header Tuesday Night at Heater-Newman with Playoff Implications
Grants Pass Basketball fans are in for a treat Tuesday night with a 6A double header in Heater-Newman gym. The Lady Cavers lead the way, tipping off at 5:30 against the South Medford Panthers. The Cavers are 2nd in the Southwest Conference with at 6 and 2 record while the Panthers are 3rd sporting a 5 and 1 tally. It’s likely both teams will make the playoffs with both currently ranked in the top 10 statewide, but this game will help determine post season seedings.
Then at the 7:00 the Cavemen tip off against the Panthers boys’ team in a battle for 3rd place in conference, currently held by the Panthers with a 4 and 3 record.
The Cavemen are 4th with a 4 and 4 record so Tuesday’s winner will be in third place with three games to play. The top three conference teams qualify for the post season. The Cavemen game will be broadcast on live KAJO with the pregame set for 20 minutes prior to tipoff.
Other SWC action Tuesday night includes both boys and girls of Willamette playing at South Eugene with the Roseburg boys are at North Medford while the girls play in opposite venues.
Other local teams, both boys and girls, includes Hidden Valley at Phoenix, North Valley at Rogue River and Illinois Valley at Myrtle Point.
