GP Police Respond to Head-On Collision, Arrested Suspect on Drug and Endangering Charges
Grants Pass Police were alerted to a head-on collision Thursday evening.
After responding to the scene in the 300 block of NE 9th Street, officers broke up a physical altercation between the suspect and victim.
Officers contacted the suspect, and learned he was traveling west on D Street near the intersection of 9th Street when he crossed over the center line, crashing head-on into the victim vehicle.
He had numerous signs of impairment and, after field sobriety testing, admitted to cannabis and fentanyl use. A search of the suspect vehicle revealed a backpack with presumptive positive drugs and paraphernalia inside.
Officers lodged the suspect in the Josephine County Jail for DUII, two counts of Reckless Endangering, and Possession of Fentanyl.
