Deputies Apprehended Out of Compliance Sex Offender on State Felony Warrant

The Josephine County Sheriff's Office apprehended a man wanted on a statewide felony warrant and added new criminal charges after he fought with them in an attempt to escape early yesterday.

The Sheriff's Office reports deputies eventually arrested 32-year-old Skylar William Jones during the incident in the 12,100-block of Lower River Road on Thursday at 1:54 a.m..

Deputies said they were attempting to serve an Oregon State warrant on Jones for Parole Violation stemming from a conviction for Assault on a Peace Officer. The suspect tried to run away from deputies and struggled with them as he was placed into custody. It was later determined he was an out of compliance sex offender.

Jones was transported to Grants Pass and lodged at the Josephine County Jail on the warrant plus new charges of Resisting Arrest, Attempted Escape, Failure to Register as a Sex Offender and Furnishing False Information to Police. He was being held on a no-bail detainer.
