Grants Pass police officers and firefighters closed out the last full week of June with another strong effort in community protection.
According to the Weekly Report filed by Grants Pass City Manager Aaron Cubic, police officers responded to a total of 595 calls for service along with 197 officer-initiated calls last week that resulted in 38 arrests, 29 citations, 21 warnings and seven highly-intoxicated people being lodged at the Sobering Center.
Cubic also reported that officers conducted a total of 51 traffic stops in the city and they made 15 referrals to the Oregon Department of Human Services (DHS).
The GPPD Community Response Team (CRT) contacted a total of 21 potential troublemakers while arresting one person, citing six more and warning 14 others. The CRT unit also trespassed three individuals from city homes and businesses.
Grants Pass Fire & Rescue responded to a total of 80 calls last week including 41 for emergency medical service, four reports of fire or smoke, 16 lift assists, seven rescue situations, six assists to other agencies and 12 false alarms. Firefighters also performed 27 business inspections, led six education/prevention programs and assisted the public at least six times.
The Grants Pass 9-1-1 Communications Center fielded a total of 1,122 emergency calls last week as well as 705 calls for non-emergency service.
