Deputies Arrested Man on Local Warrant while Investigating Transient Camp

The Josephine County Sheriff's Office arrested a man on a local warrant while investigating an illegal transient camp just northwest of Grants Pass.

According to the Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the incident in the 2600-block of NW Vine Street on Monday at about 9:30 a.m..

Deputies said employees of the Grants Pass Irrigation District were checking an irrigation box at that location when an aggressive male transient came out his tent and threatened them. The tent was one of several in that area.

Upon arrival, deputies contacted 43-year-old Jason Lee Amundson and discovered that he was wanted on a Grants Pass warrant for failing to appear in court for 2nd-Degree Theft. He was lodged at the Josephine County Jail on $15,000 bail.
