GPPD Detectives Investigating Wednesday Night Stabbing on West Side of City

The Grants Pass Police Department is investigating a stabbing that occurred this week on the west side of the city.

On Wednesday at about 9:30 p.m., a man called 9-1-1 to report being stabbed during an argument in the 1700-block of SW G Street.

GPPD officers, Grants Pass Fire & Rescue and American Medical Response arrived at the scene and provided emergency medical care to the victim. The victim was transported to Three Rivers Medical Center with life-threatening injuries and then taken to Rogue Regional Medical Center in Medford for advanced treatment.

Due to the nature of the incident, the Grants Pass Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation.

The Josephine County Sheriff's Office assisted in locating the adult male suspect near Merlin. Detectives said the assault took place between two people who knew each other and there is no danger to the public.

According to GPPD, the case is still under investigation and no additional details -- including identities of the victim and suspect -- can be released.
