GP Police Nabbed Woman for Drug Possession after She was Smoking in Alley

Grants Pass Police arrested a woman for drug possession yesterday after she was caught smoking narcotics in a downtown alley.

According to the Police Department, officers were alerted to the incident in the alley off SE H Street on Thursday at 2:40 p.m..

Police said they received a report that two people were crouched down in the alley smoking something off tin foil. They were near a downtown apartment complex and their actions were making people in the area feel uncomfortable.

Responding officers contacted 25-year-old Braylyn Marie McElmurry, finding her with burnt foil and a melted straw with drug residue. They said she admitted to smoking fentanyl from the foil, but stated that it was not hers.

McElmurry was placed into custody and lodged at the Josephine County Jail for Fentanyl Possession. She was being held without bail. The second person with her was not identified in the report.
