Elderly Murphy Felon Arrested for Assaulting His Daughter Acting as Caregiver
An elderly Murphy man with a checkered criminal history was jailed yesterday for assaulting his daughter while she was acting as his caregiver.
The Josephine County Sheriff's Office reports deputies arrested 91-year-old Harold Junior Harrold for the incident in the 200-block of Hillview Drive on Tuesday around 12:45 p.m..
Deputies said they received a call regarding a father who beat up his 62-year-old daughter while she was caring for him due to his medical condition. The man is blind, deaf and suffers from the early onset of dementia. However, the daughter -- who requested an ambulance -- said her father understands what he did was wrong.
According to the report, Harrold is a registered sex offender who was in prison for 10 years after being convicted of 1st-Degree Sex Abuse.
Upon arrival, deputies interviewed both parties and determined that Harrold had struck his daughter seven times in the face with a closed fist. He admitted to doing so and was placed into custody. The victim was treated at the scene, but refused to go to the hospital.
Harrold was lodged at the Josephine County Jail for 4th-Degree Domestic Assault and was being held without bail pending his court arraignment this afternoon.
