GP Police Jailed Man Wanted in Assault Case after Supermarket Patrol Check

Grants Pass Police captured a man wanted for questioning in a recent assault investigation while performing a patrol check at an eastside supermarket early yesterday.

The Police Department reports officers contacted 32-year-old Kyle Flury Palomino in the parking lot of WinCo Foods off NE Terry Lane on Thursday at 4:52 a.m..

Police said they spotted Palomino and knew him from previous law enforcement contacts. They also knew that he was a suspect in a recent assault case, so they placed him into custody.

During an inventory search of Palomino's backpack, officers located a crystal-like rock that tested positive as methamphetamine. It was seized for destruction.

Palomino was lodged at the Josephine County Jail for probable cause of 4th-Degree Assault. A charge of Meth Possession was forwarded to the District Attorney's Office for consideration.
