OSP Charges Motorist for Causing Hit & Run Crash on US Highway 199 near CJ
The Oregon State Police has charged a motorist for causing a crash with another vehicle on Redwood Highway in the Illinois Valley this week and then fleeing the scene on foot.
OSP reports troopers and emergency crews responded to the two-vehicle wreck near milepost 31 of US Highway 199 on Tuesday.
Troopers said a 34-year-old man was driving a Toyota 4-Runner when he collided with a Hyundai Elantra driven by a 22-year-old Medford woman. After the crash, the at-fault driver fled the scene on foot.
Two victims were contacted at the crash scene and provided information that led to the identification of the suspect motorist. OSP reports the same man was identified as the owner of the Toyota and they were still looking for him on Friday. His vehicle was towed to Cave Junction.
Charges of Hit-and-Run Causing Property Damage, Felony Criminal Mischief and two counts of Reckless Endangering against the suspect were referred to the Josephine County District Attorney's Office for consideration.
