Two Hurt after Vehicles Collided Head-On on Redwood Highway at Hayes Hill
Two people were hurt yesterday after two vehicles collided head-on on Redwood Highway at Hayes Hill.
The Oregon State Police, Rural Metro Fire Department and American Medical Response were dispatched to the two-vehicle crash on US Highway 199 near milepost 16 on Wednesday at about 12:20 p.m..
State troopers said an investigation indicates a 34-year-old Cave Junction man was driving a Toyota Corolla north when he lost control, hitting the highway barrier and going into the oncoming lane where he struck a southbound Honda Odyssey driven by a 68-year-old Grants Pass woman.
Arriving units found the Toyota had gone 15 feet over an embankment, but the single occupant had self-extricated and was not hurt. The Grants Pass woman and her passenger -- a 66-year-old woman from Susanville, California -- were taken by ambulance to Three Rivers Medical Center for treatment of non-critical injuries.
Both vehicles were heavily damaged and towed to Grants Pass.
Following the investigation, the Cave Junction man was cited for Failure to Drive Within Lane and warned for Careless Driving.
