Medford Teachers Protest Contract Negotiations
A large contingent of teachers attended the Medford School Board meeting Monday night in protest over the current contract negotiations.
Several teachers addressed the board and deemed the districtís current offer unacceptable and insulting.
The district has offered a 6 percent raise in the first year and an additional one percent each of the next two years. Teachers would have six additional work days and would be required to pay their own retirement contributions, plus insurance caps would be implemented.
One teacher stated that under the districtís current offer she would lose up to a third of her salary.
