North Carolina Man Arrested for Attempting to Elude Troopers
Saturday morning Oregon State Troopers arrested Daniel Christopher Richard, 24, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina for felony attempt to elude.
At 5:47 a.m. a Trooper attempted to stop a 2007 Dodge Charger northbound on I-5 near milepost 78 for a traffic violation. Shortly after the stop the driver left, heading north, failing to yield to the Troopers emergency lights and siren traveling at around 70 miles per hour.
Near milepost 100, with the help of the Douglas County Sheriff’s office and the Myrtle Creek Police department, spike strips were deployed, successfully deflating three of the Charger’s tires.
Richard continued for another two miles where he was taken into custody and jailed.
Richard had no outstanding warrants and a valid driver’s license. Troopers have no motive for Richard not stopping.
