Pedestrian/Vehicle Collision Leaves Man in Hospital & Driver Jailed
The Greensprings Fire District responded to a call of a man down on the side of Highway 66 at 8:00 a.m. Monday and found 45-year-old Richard Conley of Alaska on the road with leg and torso injuries. He was taken to Rogue Regional Medical Center where he is in serious but stable condition.
At 9:30 a.m. Jackson County Sheriff’s detectives were asked to respond to the accident location in the 11000 block of the Highway near Hyatt Lake Road.
The deputies, along with Oregon State Police investigators, determined Conley was struck with a 2014 Jeep Cherokee driven by Beth K. Smith, 38, of Nevada.
She was arrested for hit and run and lodged in the Jackson County Jail with bail set at $25,000. More charges may be forthcoming.
