Suspected Burglar and Car Thief Nabbed In Eugene; Returned to JoCo Jail
Anthony Wayne Teal, a 23-year-old transient, has been returned to Josephine County, by the Eugene Police Department after that department recovered a vehicle stolen in Grants Pass September 9th.
That morning at 2:00 a.m. police were dispatched after 911 received a call saying two men were going through a vehicle at 1704 Northeast Fairview Drive.
Officers arrived to see the vehicle leaving and attempted a stop, but the thief fled and a short pursuit ensued. Because of the dangerous tactics of the driver, officers discontinued the chase.
Further investigation revealed not only was the vehicle stolen but the residence was also burglarized with multiple items worth over $1,000 stolen.
Eugene police arrested two men, Teal, and a second man identified as Joshua Hamner. Teal was transferred to Grants Pass and lodged on local warrants, but Hamner was released in Lane County and his whereabouts are unknown. Hamner is considered a suspect in this case and anyone with information as to his location should call the Department of Public Safety at 541-450-6260.
