Rogue Regional Medical Center begins genetic testing
Rogue Regional Medical Center has begun genetic testing and counseling to help those with a genetic predisposition towards cancer to have an opportunity to discover if they carry any cancerous genes and to help them discuss what options they have available for treatment.
Screenings are offered twice monthly and help detect cancers which are considered genetically linked such as breast and ovarian cancer. Those who benefit most from genetic testing have family members who have been diagnosed with a rare type of cancer, were diagnosed with cancer younger than age 50 or were diagnosed with multiple primary cancers.
Anyone interested in genetic counseling should talk with their primary care doctor or call RRMC Infusion Services at 541-789-5006.
