Medford’s Controversial Methadone Clinic Re-Locates
The methadone clinic in Medford has moved from the East Main Street location to 777 Murphy Road. The clinic, operated by Allied Health Service, serves 500 patients daily. It was forced to move because it was too close to a day care center.
The medical director for both Jackson and Josephine counties, Dr. Jim Shames, says the new location should be less of a problem to the surrounding neighborhood. The new location has twice as many nurses to dispense medications, including methadone and a new drug known as buprenorphine. That means patients do not have a chance to loiter.
