Two Good Samaritan’s To be Recognized by Medford Fire-Rescue
Medford Fire-Rescue to award Certificates of Recognition to two citizens at Medford Fire-Rescues Fire Station #2 on Monday September 2, 2013 at 3 pm.
On Tuesday, August 13th a gentleman was riding his bicycle on South Stage Road when he collapsed along the side of the road. Two individuals passing by saw the man and stopped to take action. Between the two men they performed Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), maintained an open airway and held the man's neck in-line protecting his spine.
Medford Fire-Rescue is commending John Bowling and Tyler Sparks for their quick actions and willingness to perform the lifesaving skills of CPR and airway management. Studies have shown that effective bystander CPR, when provided immediately, can double or triple the chance of survival. These two men just helped improve those statistics and a man is alive today because of their assistance.
