Expected containment of Douglas Complex pushed forward a couple days
Expected containment of the Douglas Complex of Fires has been pushed forward a couple days and is now estimated to be contained by next Tuesday.
The fire has burned 48,679 acres and is listed again at 92 percent contained. 282 firefighters, 11 engines and two helicopters are still manning the fire.
Containment of the Big Windy Fire has jumped dramatically and the Big Windy is now estimated at 75 percent contained. The fire has burned a total of 24,233 acres and is staffed by 780 firefighters, 22 engines and five helicopters. Burnout operations remain slow due to the inaccessible terrain. Mop-up and rehabilitation is being done in critical areas. Containment of the Big Windy is still estimated for Sept. 7.
The Labrador Fire continues smoldering at 2,023 acres and firefighters are continuing air drops and keeping a watchful eye on the fire.
