Homeowner Wrestles with Burglar; Suspect Jailed
Medford Police arrested, charged and lodged 20-year-old Michael Brandon Mak, of Eagle Point with a myriad of charges stemming from an incident Wednesday night shortly after 11:00 when he was discovered in the kitchen of a 51-year man who was watching television at the time.
When Mak tried to escape the resident grabbed him and a scuffle ensued, breaking a window, scattering glass on the floor cutting the residents bare feet. Mak escaped but was found walking south in the alley by 13th and Fir. He initially ran from officers but was located hiding in nearby bushes and was positively identified as the intruder.
He gained entry by removing an exterior screen and crawled through while the resident watched T.V. and his 11-year-old son slept. Police also found a camera wrapped in a sweatshirt on the ground outside the window that was stolen from a neighbor’s vehicle.
Mak’s bail is $41,000.
