District No. 7 approves HVAC system upgrades
The Grants Pass School District No. 7 Board during their Tuesday meeting voted to improve Lincoln Elementary’s HVAC system by installing a new Direct Digital Control system and a new drive fan.
The new system and fan will cost $95,900 but will net roughly $11,587 in annual savings. The district is paying for the project through a state funded grant that promotes energy efficiency upgrades. District administrator Sherry Ely said the same system was installed in Redwood Elementary last year and though the system hasn’t been operational for a full year it has saved the district around $8,500.
The old system also required frequent attention from staff, sometimes during night hours, to continue operation and the new system will not require as much attention.
The approval of the new DDC system passed unanimously.
