Firefighters pounce on lightning fires
Firefighters are poised and pouncing on small fires created by lightning strikes and far fewer were reported in Jackson County Wednesday night than Tuesday.
There were no reported lightning strikes in Josephine County Wednesday night.
19 fires were tallied by the Oregon Department of Forestry from Tuesday’s lightning strikes and they have all been doused. The largest fires were reported as a four-acre fire near Colbeigh Road in the Butte Falls area and a three-acre fire near Williams.
Most of the fires were less than a quarter acre and no properties were damaged or injuries reported.
