Friday fire update
In a rundown of local fires:
The Big Windy Fire located 25 miles northwest of Grants Pass has consumed 3,718 acres and is considered zero percent contained. 768 firefighters, nine engines and four helicopters are stationed at Big Windy. This fire has closed Bear Camp Road, the Wild and Scenic section of the Rogue River and the Rogue River trail from Grave Creek to the Rogue River Ranch. The fire has progressed to the old Biscuit Fire scar.
The Brimstone Fire, located 10 miles northwest of Merlin, has consumed 1,711 acres and is now 25 percent contained. 703 personnel, 31 engines and 7 helicopters are battling this fire. A fire jumped the line last night and burned two acres but firefighters brought it under control.
The Douglas Complex of Fires is listed as 28,596 acres and is now 9 percent contained. 1,645 firefighters are battling the blaze assisted by 78 fire engines and 11 helicopters. Firefighters report good progress was made Thursday at the Milo and Rabbit fires.
The information presented in Cave Junction last night in regards to the Labrador Fire is still the most current information on that fire.
