Airports utilized for aerial attacks and Fairground’s Market canceled
The Grants Pass Airport has been outfitted today to be a helicopter attack base for local fires and the Illinois Valley Airport is being outfitted with the same equipment.
This will allow very quick turnaround times for the helicopters when they need to land for refueling or maintenance operations.
Stagnant air over the Rogue Valley has created low visibility and helicopters have been grounded. Fire crews are hoping winds will gust some of the smoke away Wednesday and allow for an aerial attack.
Additionally, the Thursday Farmer’s Market at the Josephine County Fairgrounds has been canceled due to smoke inhalation concerns.
