Big Windy Fire causes evacuation of Rogue River Ranch
The Big Windy Fire has moved very close to the south bank of the Rogue River causing heavy smoke and aerial debris resulting in the evacuation Monday evening of the Rogue River Ranch.
This fire has grown to 2,000 acres, is zero percent contained and has 150 personnel assigned to it. The Pacific Northwest Team 2 has assumed management of the fire and they have relocated the incident management post from the Grants Pass Interagency Office to Merlin.
Crews fought hard against the Brimstone Fire near Sunny Valley Monday night and the fire has not grown from an estimated 1,500 to 2,000 acres during Monday’s firefighting efforts. 11 20-person hand crews, 21 engines and two bulldozers were rolled out for the night crew and their focus has been to secure the fire’s south perimeter and to complete containment wherever else when possible.
