Culvert Replacement to Cause Temporary Closer of Bear Camp Road
A short segment of the Bear Camp Road is scheduled to be temporarily closed for an approximate three-week period for culvert replacements. The closure period will begin on Tuesday, August 26, to start immediate work on the site. Pending no complications or delays, it is anticipated the road will re-open on Friday, September 19.
An alternate route on Burnt Ridge Road, Forest Service Road 2308 will provide a loop for vehicular traffic to avoid the construction area. Recent maintenance on the gravel detour route has been completed; users are advised to reduce speeds to minimize impacts to the road surface. It is estimated the alternate route will add approximately 15 minutes to travel time.
Those utilizing the route are being asked to plan accordingly.
The culvert replacements will occur at mileposts 33.62 and 33.67. The culvert replacements are essential to keeping the Bear Camp Road open; a culvert failure would inevitably close the road for an extended period.
