Medford P.D. Jails Two Alleged Counterfeiters
Medford Police Officers arrested and jailed a California man and Eugene woman for allegedly passing $100 counterfeit bills this week.
Jailed were Derrick Knockum, 48, and 42-year-old Novavilla Maijala. Each were charged with two counts of 1st degree forgery and booked.
Authorities believe they used the fake bills in at least three businesses, and anticipate more reports. The bills they used had watermarks on them, strengthening the image of legitimacy further. The same serial number was on each bill.
Medford Big Lots employees spotted the fake bill and police arrested both in the businesses parking lot.
