Medford School District Closes the Door on New Transfers, in or out of District
The Medford School Board Monday adopted policies that stop new transfers, in or out of the district. Students that have begun the process to transfer for next fall may be admitted.
After hearing from several parents, it was decided to allow those who had begun the transfers process prior to June 30th to transfer, as long as the school board’s attorney says it is within state law.
The change was prompted by a new law that prohibits districts from admitting students on a case-by-case basis to prevent any form of discrimination. The only exception in the law is for students whose health and safety are at risk.
