Commissioner Walker rebuts petition for her recall
Josephine County Commissioner Cherryl Walker rebutted claims made by a citizen’s group, who filed for her recall, in a release she sent out late Tuesday.
In the release, Walker says there are a small group of disgruntled individuals who disrupt Josephine County meetings. “Their filing of a potential recall against me is just the latest in a string of attempts to derail county government and prevent any progress toward resolution of the many problems our county is currently experiencing,” Walker said.
Walker goes on to say specific allegations against her are false. She says she did not prioritize Public Works over the Sheriff’s Office in budgeting but the County Budget Committee suggested money be used for the county road fund. The commissioners then allocated money from the contingency and general fund to the Sheriff’s budget. She also says she has not solely made any decisions for the Board of Commissioners or the Josephine County Budget Committee and all decisions made were a consensus.
The petition to recall Commissioner Walker was submitted to the Josephine County Clerk last Friday.
