18-Year-Old Arrested for Intentionally Hitting Cyclist & Robbing Him
Aron Brazil, 18, of Medford, was arrested and lodged in the Jackson County Jail with bail set at over $3 million on charges of 1st degree assault and robbery, 2nd degree assault plus hit and run injury.
Brazil is accused of intentionally hitting a bicyclist with his pickup truck last Friday at about 11 a.m. at the intersection of Steelhead Court and Corona Avenue in Medford. Its alleged Brazil then got out of his pickup with his face covered by a cloth and sprayed the cyclist with pepper spray to steal a recently purchased lottery ticket. He then fled in a red Ford F-150.
Detectives located the pickup Monday on Portland Avenue and interviewed Brazil, who is the registered owner. He subsequently confessed. Itís believed Brazil had targeted the victim because he believed he would have a large amount of cash on him.
The victim was taken to Providence Hospital with several internal injuries but has since been released. He is recovering at home.
