Medford Police Arrest Suspect from Weekend Stabbing
Aaron Riley Westensee, 25, of Central Point is being held in the Jackson County jail on charges of attempted murder and 1st degree assault in connection with a stabbing incident early Sunday morning the intersection of North Front Street and 5th in Medford.

Detectives determined there were eight men involved in a verbal dispute prior to the stabbing and all have been identified. Sunday morning the men involved, many of whom were intoxicated,
came across each other. Westensee produced a knife and menaced the victim and his friends. The victim fled and was pursued and caught by Westensee who then stabbed him three times in the torso.

Late Tuesday night detectives, with assistance from the SWAT team, served a search warrant at Westensee’s home and arrested him without incident. His bail is $2,000,000.

The first Medford officer to arrive on the stabbing scene, Chris Moore, was previously employed as a firefighter/paramedic and carried a medical kit in the cruiser. He was able to administer clotting bandages to control the victims bleeding and its believed Officer Moore’s actions saved his life.

The victim’s identity is being withheld while the investigation is underway. Police have confirmed he is a 28-year-old Medford resident. He remains hospitalized at Rogue Regional Medical Center in stable condition.
