All 4 Lanes of I-5 Open near Exit 24
All four traffic lanes have reopened on Interstate 5 near Phoenix, following an almost month long construction project that narrowed the highly traveled corridor to two lanes.
One lane in each direction near exit 24 has been closed since April 28th while crews installed a four-foot diameter storm water pipe beneath the freeway. The pipe is intended to carry runoff into a detention pond that will help reduce impurities before the water is released into Bear Creek.
It is all part of the Fern Valley Interchange Project that is expected to be complete by September of 2016. The 50 mile per hour speed limit will remain in place, and motorists must reduce their speeds in that zone even when no workers are present.
