No Contract in Teacherís Strike in Spite of Marathon Negotiating
With both sides apparently intent on reaching an agreement the Medford School district and the teacherís union negotiated until 10 p.m. Tuesday night and continued beginning at 9:30 Wednesday morning and again went into the night time hours.
Yesterday The bargaining teams were holed up in conference rooms inside the Rogue Regency Inn and both sides agreed not to make the process public until an agreement is reached.
At least two proposals were exchanged Wednesday and there was at least one face to face discussion between some of the team members, but the state mediator handled the bulk of the negotiations.
No time line for settlement has been set and the two sides although making some progress remain split on the same issues: contract length, health insurance, cost of living and early retirement.
