Man Rams Girlfriends House; Draws $2 Million Bail
Tuesday morning at 4:14, Medford police were dispatched to the 1200 block of Stevens Street where 20-year-old Matthew Olivares had just rammed his 2006 Acura into the home of his ex-girlfriend and the mother of his two children.
Officers ascertained Olivares was driving at a high rate of speed south on Wabash Avenue and without slowing down, rammed into the home of his 21-year-old ex-girlfriend causing significant damage and knocking the house off its foundation.
The vehicle struck her bedroom and the resulting flying debris caused minor injuries and cuts to her face. The couple’s two children were in the same room but were uninjured.
Police believe the crash was intentional and following being treated and released from Rogue Regional Medical Center, Olivares was jailed on first degree attempted assault, second and third degree assault, three counts of reckless endangering, reckless driving and DUII. His bail is $2,025,000.
