Medford Police apprehend Grants Pass woman accused of robbing bank
Medford Police have arrested a Grants Pass woman who is suspected of robbing a bank.
Investigators say 53-year-old Karen Ilene McGuire entered the Wells Fargo on Riverside Avenue in Medford just after noon Saturday, handed the teller a note demanding cash and she then fled from the scene.
License plate tracking technology in a patrol car honed in on McGuire’s 1986 Toyota 4Runner as it was fleeing the area and when they ran the license plate number through a database it identified McGuire as a suspect in the case.
Authorities arrested McGuire Saturday evening at her residence in the 5800 block of Lower River Road and charged her with second-degree robbery and first-degree theft. She is lodged in the Jackson County Jail on over $1 million bail.
