Grants Pass Police Execute Warrant Arrest
Grants Pass Police have arrested Robert Eugene Synder, 31, of Brookings was arrested Saturday morning at 9:20 a.m. on warrants out of California.
An officer with the Grants Pass Police stopped a pickup for a traffic violation where the passenger was not wearing a seatbelt. The passenger, Robert Eugene Snyder, provided a false name to the officer when exiting the vehicle. Snyder then ran off on foot, attempting to hide from police in a nearby yard.
Snyder was quickly located and ignored officers commands. At one point, Snyder again attempted to run away, but was subdued using a Taser. Snyder was taken into custody without further incident.
Upon learning Snyderís real name, it was discovered that he had several felony warrants out of Crescent City, CA. The investigation also revealed that Snyder was in possession of forged checks, stolen mail and a credit card from local addresses. Snyder was also in possession of a small amount of Methamphetamine.
Neither Snyder nor any police officers were injured during the incident. Snyder may be charged with additional crimes pending further investigation.
The female driver of the pickup, later identified as Michelle Ann Marie Fisher, was contacted. Fisher, who had a criminally suspended driverís license, was issued a citation and released. The pickup was impounded.
Snyder was subsequently lodged at the Josephine County jail on his warrants and the new charges. This case is still under investigation with potential for further local charges, based on the evidence located at the scene and on Snyderís person. It is believed Snyder is associated with several crimes in Grants Pass, Josephine County and the Medford area. Further information on this case to follow as more charges are determined.
