Cabin and barn burn to the ground in Jackson County
Two fires in Jackson County Thursday burnt a cabin and a barn to the ground.
A cabin was destroyed in the 2000 block of Soda Mountain Road near Ashland after the cabinís sole resident left a candle burning overnight. Fire crews from the Greensprings Fire Department arrived within minutes of the emergency call but they were unable to save the building. No injuries were reported from the incident.
A barn also burned near Eagle Point in the 2000 block of Stevens Road. Crews from Jackson County Fire District No. 3 responded and they say the cause of the fire is still under investigation. No injuries were reported but the barn valued at $150,000 is considered a total loss.
