$300K+ Grant to Spur Development of Ashland Creek Park
The Ashland Parks Department was successful in winning a $309,000 state grant this year which will likely spur the long awaited development of a new park along the Ashland Creek.
The property, purchased from the Vogel family in 2009, was later named Ashland Creek Park but has remained in a largely undeveloped state since then.
A master plan, crafted years ago by local residents will guide the 7-acre park’s development. That plan calls for walking trails, a riparian area along the creek, open grassy areas, a children’s play structure, picnic tables, a basketball half court, restrooms and a drinking fountain.
An official timeline has not yet been created, but the parks department indicates construction could begin this spring.
