S.O.U. to Trim $3 to $5 Million in Three Years
Southern Oregon University president Mary Cullinan announced the institution will begin cutting faculty and programs next year in a process known as retrenchment.
Retrenchment allows the administration free reign in cutting faculty without breaching its contract with the union.
The President stated the university with trim $3 to $5 million over the next three years.
If the university does not cut about $4 million before the end of the biennium in 2015, it will be out of compliance with the Oregon University Systemís policy that each university keep at least a five percent fund balance on hand at all times.
