Psychiatric Supervision Ordered for Greenway Shooter
Joseph Edward Matejko, 54, is bound for the Oregon State Hospital after being convicted Thursday of two counts of attempting to commit a glass B felony.
Matejko shot at three teens walking along the Bear Creek Greenway in February. The teens were not injured when Matejko fired a black powder pistol at them on February 19th about a mile from Medford’s U.S. Cellular Park.
Circuit Judge Lorenzo Mejia found Matejko guilty except for insanity. He was acquitted of attempted murder charges.
Matejko was sentenced to 10 years under the supervision of the state’s Psychiatric Security Review Board.
