The Westview Wildcats defeated the South Eugene Axemen Friday night in a play-in game, earning the right to face the Grants Pass Cavemen in the first round of the playoffs November 8th at Mel Ingram Field.

The two teams are similar with each finishing the regular season with three losses. There are two common opponents, Westview defeated South Medford 28 to 24 in a come from behind win, while Grants Pass downed the Panthers 32 to 31 in overtime. The Cavemen defeated South Eugene 31 to 14 while in Friday’s play-in contest the Wildcats outscored the Axemen 41 to 6. Westview finished fourth in the Metro conference while the Cavemen were third in the Southern Oregon Conference. Grants Pass is rated 15th in the RPI rankings and Westview 18th.

The playoff game will be broadcast on KLDR-98.3 F.M. with the pre-game at 6:30 for a 7 p.m. kickoff

In other play-in action last night Crater defeated Forest Grove 41 to 39 to earn a first round game against the top rated team in the state, Jesuit, on the 8th. Roseburg made a statement Friday night outscoring Barlow 63 to 7 and will next face McNary. Beaverton downed the Thurston Colts.

In 4A play-in action the North Valley nights won on the road defeating North Marion 55 to 36 and will play at Ridgeview Friday night.
