Neighbors Association Fight Council on Approval of Assisted-Living Center
Neighbors in an historic Medford area have formed the Old East Medford Neighborhood Association and have hired a Portland law firm to challenge Medford’s decision to exempt the proposed assisted living center at 825 East Main Street from a time consuming planning review.

The Medford code exempts a new building on a property from review if it does not generate more than ten additional vehicle trips and the project is not in a historic district.

The existing buildings sit just outside the historic district and the proposed facility would, in theory, generate 123 fewer trips.

The neighbors have previously said they believe the project should be subject to architectural review because the proposed center would be three stories and loom over their houses.
