Troopers Investigate I-5 Fatal as a Hit & Run
Oregon State Police is investigating Wednesday afternoon's fatal hit-and-run crash along the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 near Wolf Creek in southern Oregon that resulted in the death of a private contractor flagging crew member. Troopers are reporting the suspect vehicle was located about an hour after the crash at a nearby fueling station off the freeway.
Preliminary information indicates, at approximately 1:07 p.m., a commercial truck and its driver fled northbound on Interstate 5 near milepost 76 after being involved in a traffic crash that resulted in the death of a private company flagger. Emergency responders arrived and pronounced the person deceased.
One northbound lane of Interstate 5 at the scene is blocked during the investigation.
