Rural Metro Corporation Files Chapter 11
Rural Metro Corporation has elected to file Chapter 11 petitions in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware. The company intends to use the process to significantly reduce its debt, renegotiate unprofitable contracts and free up capital for investments to strengthen its business and further improve patient care.
An agreement reached includes a significant cash investment from the company’s bondholders to address the capital expenditure needs and to ensure continuing the industry leading services to its patrons.
According to Mike Shaw, Rural Metro’s public information officer for Josephine County, local patrons will not be affected by the filing and will continue to receive the service they have become accustomed to.
Rural Metro Corporation is a leading provider of 911-emergecny and non-emergency ambulance and private fire protection services, operating in 21 states and nearly 700 communities.
